Lab 2 – Calorimetry: Measurement of Chemical & Physical Transformation
- Experimental – Calorimetry
- Constant Volume Calorimetry (Bomb Calorimetry Simulator)
- Every student should use the last 4 digits of their ASU ID # as the Calorimeter Code they use for bomb calorimetry simulations.
- Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC, Sync Remote Lab)
- The remote DSC will not be used by students independently but rather as an ASU sync experiment on Zoom with a TA or Instructor.
- Schedule for remote sync DSC experiments (physical properties of the same materials simulated by students using the Bomb Calorimetry Simulator. – T/TH, Sept 9 and 11 at 10:30-11:30 AM and 6:30-8:30 PM – Zoom link on ASU Canvas course website (students should try to attend at least one of these ASU sync lab times/dates, but video and data will also be posted publicly for students that can’t make any of these available ASU sync lab sessions).
- Remote DSC is a TA Instruments DSC2500 and the data will be saved and posted on the CHM343 GitHub Calorimetry Data Repository. The native data can be read by a free version of TRIOS and will also be exported as a text file.
